India’s Essence

If you think of India, you immediately imagine the colors, because at first glance it is just like that: an explosion of colors and smells hits you in a violent, magical and fascinating way. But as soon as you look away from all those colors, from the deafening traffic, and you wander through the streets and in the midst of people, maybe you start to “feel” India a little more. The colors slowly vanish, leaving room for feelings, for melancholic looks and smiles, essence and essential. This is how my need for black and white arose, to tell a part of India that I lived, because, quoting Wim Wenders: “The world is in color, but reality is in black and white”.
